The Performance Evaluation Advisory Committee (PEAC) established a Student and Educator Support Specialists Working Grouo (SESS) in April 2012 to address the unique evaluation challenges of student support service professionals that require customization of Connecticut's Teacher Evaluation system. The SESS group disseminated their first report on June 18, 2012. Members will continue to meet to discuss implementation of the group's recommendations. Report of the SLP Advisory Committee (2010)
Anne Louise Thompson, Bureau Chief, Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE), Bureau of Special Education, requested the formation of a Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Advisory Committee in the fall of 2009. The stated charge to the committee was to examine and advise CSDE regarding critical issues in the field of speech-language pathology in the state of Connecticut including the continued shortage of SLPs in Connecticut schools, the roles of SLPs and SLP Assistants/Aides (SLPAs), and professional development needs. Integrated Student Support Services (ISSS)

SERC's Integrated Student Support Services Initiative (ISSS) addresses removing barriers to student learning through professional development opportunities for support services professionals and the colleagues and families with whom they collaborate within schools and the community. ISSS focuses on the educational, communication, cultural, emotional, and health needs of students. It addresses Connecticut's achievement gaps by considering prevention, early intervention, intervention, and crisis response in support of student academic performance and healthy development. ISSS supports the interdisciplinary efforts of teams, as well as the discipline-specific needs of the professions it serves: occupational therapy, physical therapy, school counseling, school nursing, school psychology, school social work, and speech-language pathology.
