R.E.A.D: Reading Education Assistance Dogs Program

Evenings at the SERC Library

Did you know that specially trained dogs come to the SERC Library to hear a good book? The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program allows beginning readers and other children in Grades 1-4 the opportunity to read aloud to the dogs in a relaxed, nonjudgmental environment. This can nurture the children’s skills and con dence in reading and let everybody have some fun!

Sessions available throughout the year!

Intermountain Therapy Animals, a nonpro t organization based in Salt Lake City, initiated R.E.A.D. in 1999. The R.E.A.D. dogs are registered therapy animals that come with their owners/handlers to schools, libraries, and other settings. Volunteer R.E.A.D. teams at the SERC Library come from Allan’s Angels Therapy Dogs.

Held 5:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. once a month.
